I love ice cream and one of my goals for this summer is to become a CONEHEAD. It will be a challenge but one that I am willing to take. With this new discovery for me and my wife I have to say that Cold Stone is a pretty cool and amazing concept. They take ice cream delivery to a new level. Question: Who ever would have thought to mix ingredients that you choose to mix them on a cold piece of granite? Answer: Cold Stone The concept: They have several selections of base ice creams to choose from (vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough, mint, cotton candy) and then you get to add one ingredient at no extra cost. If you want more than one ingredient it will cost you an extra .65 cents. They come in three different size cups with or without a waffle cone inside. The experience: The staff are pretty cool and patient when you make your choices. I have had the mint chocolate chip (my favorite). I tried the sundae and it is sooooo chocolaty that I couldn't even finish it (not that it was bad). They have a few tables inside as well as tables outside for when it gets warmer outside. Bottom line: The cost is a little on the high side but when you want to treat yourself to great quality ice cream then this is a great place to come to.

I'm kind of of shy to say this ... but this was my "first time" ..... At Cold Stone. Trust me, I've experienced ice cream before & I've been to other ice cream parlors but I had to have Ubaldo educate me. He was so informative on "how" to order at cold stone. First of all, they have special sizes for ice cream portions: Like it, Love it & Gotta have it. They have assorted ice cream & yogurt flavors to chose from. Then you can choose a cup or waffle cup. And then - just when you think you have completed your selection --- there are Toppings to choose from. I fell in love with the cake batter & cheesecake flavors. My husband & I experienced ice cream in a cup with one topping. Soooooo creamy!!!!! But there is more at Cold Stone, so we will come back to try other items.

I thought Cold Stone and ice cream shops with the same concept were the greatest thing since sliced bread when I was younger. I attended Syracuse University and we had one in the mall close to our campus. My girlfriends and I would go there to treat ourselves and to ruminate about life. I enjoyed those times and will hold those memories very close to me. However, as I've gotten older, my love affair for Cold Stone has died down. I don't desire to visit when I have a craving for ice cream. Trust me. This is a situation of, "It's not you. It's me." My tastes have grown and evolved and I'd much rather visit a local ice cream shop as opposed to a national chain. But, sometimes, I just want ice cream now and can't make it/don't want to go to the grocery store to buy a pint from some small business or local brand. Unfortunately, the local shops are a bit far from home. So, I'll go to Cold Stone to get my sugar high. On my most recent visit, I got a like it size, which is still pretty big and will easily satisfy any sweet tooth's craving for ice cream. I got the cheesecake ice cream and mixed in chocolate chips and strawberries. My treat tasted good, but I wished that the worker would have put in an equal amount of chocolate chips and strawberries. It was a bit heavy on the chocolate chips side. I also enjoy their Cheesecake Fantasy (cheesecake ice cream, graham cracker pie crust, strawberries and blueberries) and Berry Berry Good (sweet cream ice cream, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries) creations. Keep in mind that the creations cost a bit more than just picking a flavor and adding any of your choice of mix-ins. Those get broken down in price by how many you choose to add. Service wise, the youngsters working at the shop are always pretty friendly and efficient. I mean, c'mon. You work with ice cream! You should automatically be happy! My only gripe is that the shop is pretty small and there aren't many places to sit. There is outdoor seating, but again, there aren't that many tables. Cold Stone does get crowded during peak times (summer evenings, weekend evenings) with people indulging in ice cream. So, keep that in mind if you don't like dealing with crowds. Overall good, but will be visited when in an ice cream pinch.

If i could give this place no stars i would! I called an hour before said closed time online to make sure the hours were correct. The guy who answered the phone said yes, they were open until 10pm. I get there at 9:30 and they were effing closed!!!! Terrible customer service!! All the girl said was "yeah, sorry." And as I was leaving she darted out in front of my car as i was driving! I live by Fort Sheridan so it's a bit of a hike to get here and then when i'm all exciting about getting some of their delicious ice cream, they're closed even though i had called to make sure they were open!! Never coming to this location again!!!!

The worst cold stone I have ever gone to. Walked in just before closing time and the employee said the already shut the registers down yet all his friends were hanging out in the store.

The customer service in this location is terrible! I had a groupon & mentioned it to the employee prior to ordering. She said they don't accept all groupons, looked at my groupon & said it was fine. My kids then placed their orders & started eating their ice cream. When we got to the register, I gave her my phone so she could enter the groupon & she said "We don't take groupons - it says so right here on the register." When I told her that I just showed her my groupon a minute ago & she said it was fine, she said "We don't take groupons" and gave me the option to pay or give the ice cream back. My kids were already eating it, so I had no choice but to pay full price for the ice cream, which we would not have ordered had she told me in advance that the groupon wouldn't be accepted. Unbelievable! With about 10 other ice cream parlor options in the area, we won't be back to this one!

The service in this place was absolutely horrible. The guy behind the counter was talking to his friend for 15 minutes while we waited to be served. We walked out at that point. There were only 3 people in there at the time, but the guy just insisted on ignoring us. Pretty lousy service for ice cream that's only slightly above par to begin with..

This cold stone store is the worst one ever !! I love Coldstone but even if this was the last one left on Earth I would still not go to this location. The lady that owns the franchise is extremely rude. I went there with my husband and my husband ordered a medium size and I ordered a small. She made both the orders same sizes - both were small - and when we asked her about it, she said that I had ordered medium too and that it was not an error on her part, I was the one who did not order correctly and she started rudely accusing me of ordering incorrectly. Then we also noticed that the cups were small size not mediums ( since we go to other Coldstone locations all the time we know the difference between the sizes ). When we told her about this she argued that the other cold stones were simply not doing it right these days and her proportions are correct according to Coldstone standards !! So she charged us for 2 mediums while we ended up with 2 smalls ( barely) and a bad taste in our mouths because of they way we were treated . Don't ever go here if u really want to enjoy the Coldstone experience. (If u are near Vernon hills, it's worth to drive out to the Deerpark one instead). Such people just spoil the reputation for popular businesses like Coldstone.
